Huffman Machining Solutions is a small but growing CNC Machine Shop located in the mountain community of Newland.
I officially started this business in February of 2022, mainly as a side/hobby business while working full time in education. I had ambitions to offer parts for historic equipment such as steam locomotives. I have been passionate about these machines my whole life and wanted to figure out a way to help keep them running into the future.
What started as a side business quickly turned into a full time endeavor that has grown beyond my wildest dreams. To date we have delivered machined parts to over a dozen steam locomotive operators and contract restoration firms, and have assisted local industrial customers with machined solutions to fit their needs. Our list of industries served continue to grow, as you can see here on our website.
I left my day job to take this business on full time in August of 2025. The road hasn't been easy, but we keep moving forward and I am excited at what the future will hold for us.
We would love to take a look at anything sent our way, as I always say we are willing to give anything a try twice!

When we say we are going to do something for a customer, we will make every effort to do it and keep our word. That may mean working long hours, spending money on custom tools and fixtures, and doing what ever it takes to deliver the parts on time, every time. We want to be long term partners with trust, not just a transactional one-and-done relationship.
We maintain a strong network of trusted partner machine and fabrication shops that specialize in processes outside our core capabilities. From welding and heat treatment to precision grinding and high-volume machining, these partnerships allow us to connect customers with the right expertise when it matters. Our goal is to help customers get their parts and products made—even when that means directing them to a partner better suited for the job. If we can help a customer get what they need, that’s a win for everyone.
We believe in making the right investments at the right time so we can better serve our customers. As their needs grow, we have the capability to grow alongside them. This includes investing in the right equipment and tooling, and partnering with trusted companies, to ensure every job is done right the first time.

Located between I-40, I-81, and approximately 2.5 hours from Charlotte means we have an extensive vendor and shipping/LTL network allowing us to ship anywhere in the United States. As of 2026, we have shipped product to 14 states.
